Built in 1472 by mahmood gawan in bidar. An imposing three-storied building, the Madarasa was a renowned centre of learning with its own library, lecture halls, quarters for professors/ students and a mosque. The institution had scholars imparting knowledge of Arabic and Persian languages, theology, philosophy, mathematics, etc. The front of the building is adorned with tiles of various colours along with two stately minarets on each side. Extracts from the holy Quran have been engraved on some parts of the walls, the remains of which can be seen.

This historical place is 551 years old today but lost few parts but still stands as a gem . Need little care to protect it and restore it as I found even security guards there but only to keep an eye on it they are going great job keeping it away from people and damage but need little restorations as the calligraphy is missing on the walls and it's loosing it's beauti . It looks amazing by the road and attraction point for every tourist .

This Madrasa was built in the year 1472 by Mahmud Gawan. It is an example of the regional style of Indo-Islamic architecture under the Bahmani Sultanate. The building is one of those put by UNESCO on its "tentative list" to become a World Heritage Site in 2014, under the name Monuments and Forts of the Deccan Sultanate. It describes an amazing piece of architecture by the Bahamani's .

A really nice place that highlight the architecture of past time. A very pleasant place, too. Recommend coming here for picnic.

A religious seminary dating back to the latter half of the 15th century, it was built by Mahmud Gawan a Persian scholar-in-exile who came to Bidar and set up the Madrasa. He is believed to have set up the institution with his own money. The structure is now more or less in ruins, though the mosque within still conducts daily prayers. In 2014, UNESCO has earmarked this site for consideration as a World Heritage Site under "Monuments and Forts of the Deccan Sultanate", because it is 'an architectural gem'.

This place used to be one of the largest Madrasa in the region. As per the news it had been demolished due to uncontrolled explosion of gunpowder stored in the building. One can see long walls and some architecture today also. It holds a mosque at the front end. The place can take around 1-2 hrs to explore thoroughly.
